Why I built this

I always wanted a face tool that did two things: explained where its numbers came from, and told me what to actually do with them. The apps I tried gave me a bare score with nothing behind it. They charged weekly to see it, scored blurry selfies as confidently as good photos, and ended with a verdict instead of a suggestion. Nothing on the market fit what I needed, so I built it myself.

FaceCheckup is the result. It draws every measurement on your own photo so you can check it. It refuses photos that would give misleading numbers. It shows each score with a range rather than false precision, compares each measurement with published research, and finishes with practical things you can do this week: haircut, brows, glasses, beard, makeup and how to take a better photo. The scan is free and unlimited, it runs on your device, and your photo is never uploaded.

What I’m not

I’m not a doctor, a cosmetic surgeon, an orthodontist or a licensed stylist, and FaceCheckup never gives medical or surgical advice. My job is method: reading the research and the professional guidance, applying it the same way to every face, and being honest about what the evidence does and doesn’t support. Where a tip comes from stylists, opticians or makeup artists, the site labels it as a convention. Where a number comes from a study, it names the study. Where the evidence is weak, as with the golden ratio, the site says so.

The rules this site follows

  • Show the work. Every measurement can be drawn on your photo, and the score's formula is published on the how-it-works page.
  • Name the source. Every typical range, statistic and tip links to where it came from. A number nobody measured does not appear here.
  • Lead with strengths, then suggestions. No 'ugly', no harsh tier labels, and no surgery, filler, mewing, bone-smashing or supplement advice.
  • Honest money. The scan is free and unlimited. There is one optional paid report, with no subscription, no trial that turns into a charge, and no scores locked behind a paywall.
  • Privacy by design. Faces are processed on your device and never reach our servers.
  • Articles on this site are researched with AI assistance and edited by Sukie before publication. Every measurement and figure is checked against the published sources listed on each page.

How the site is put together

The face model is Google’s open-source MediaPipe Face Landmarker, which places 478 points on a face. The measurements, photo-quality checks, pose correction, Balance Score and face-shape logic are our own code, and are documented on How it works. Research figures come from peer-reviewed studies and anthropometric references. Style rules come from published guidance by professional stylists, optical organisations and makeup brands, with at least two independent sources behind each one. How pages are researched and checked is set out in the editorial process.

What’s on the site

There are 21 guides and tools so far, covering face shapes, symmetry and proportions, eyes and brows, and jaw and cheekbones. New tools are added as they are tested. Start with the free attractiveness test, or go to face shapes if you mainly want to know which haircut or glasses suit you.

Contact and corrections

If you spot an error, a broken source or a measurement that doesn’t look right on your photo, I want to hear about it. Email sukielovesupport@gmail.com. Corrections are made promptly, and the page’s updated date changes when they are.
